Every serious (and not so serious) cook has a cookbook somewhere around the house. Even if you’ve never actually purchased one, you probably received one as a wedding gift or perhaps a Christmas grab bag gift.
Unless of course, you are one of the world’s worst cooks and your family gives you a new cookbook on a weekly basis! I know exactly what that feels like! That’s the way my collection grew so fast at a very young age. The donors of these books said that they were merely gifts…but I’ve always known that they were 3 dimensional HINTS!
Here’s a list of some cookbooks that are must haves along with those that you may like because they’re loaded with yummy recipes. Or…it’s quite possible that you’re a cookbookaholic like I am!
One of the top 3 questions that I get from you is "Where can I get one of those gadgets that can do this or that?" Boy oh boy, why do you folks ask me that question? I am a gadget gal to the bone marrow.
Besides recipes and cooking, gadgets are in the top percentile of stuff that Your Smiling Chef just has to have to exist! So I am flipping over on my head to answer your gadget questions.
Do you know what my childhood nickname was? Gidget. It’s like I was predestined to become "Gadget Gidget!" You just don’t know how thrilled I am to be able to share gadgetology with you.
Now if you find a really cool gadget, please don’t leave all of us in the shadows of your discovery. Please share!

This recipe for White Chocolate Cherry Fudge is pretty tasty but quite sweet. I can only eat half of one square in a week. Children can eat 75 squares in a half hour.
This fudge will be perfect for a Valentines Day gift, especially if you take the time to cut each maraschino cherry half into a little heart shape. Oh boy… I can already hear you complaining! Just do one and see how it looks. I bet that you’ll invest the time after you see how adorable it is. (more…)
Senior Junior gave me this yummy Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookierecipe about 8 or 9 years ago. He stopped by yesterday right before he was leaving for a vacation and asked if I had shared his cookie recipe with all of you. Well, let me tell you.
First of all, if you’re not familiar with Senior Junior, he’s the good friend who gave me his favorite recipe for Pineapple Chiffon Cake. But moving on, I became so bedazzled by his appearance that I almost couldn’t remember what folder it was in.
And why might that be? It’s because Senior Junior was wearing a mink coat and hat that I know had to have set him back about 20 big ones! I almost fell on the floor! What the heck? He merely looked at me and said, “Hey, you only live once.” Live once? The man is in his late eighties if he’s a day. Where’s he going in all that fur at his age? He can’t even remember where he’s going! But I remember and I’ll tell you… he’s on his way to Palm Beach. Go figure.
I can eat 62 of these in less than five minutes. Or maybe it’s 26. It might be only 6. More likely it’s 2. All I know for sure is that it’s a pretty good cookie that’s great for dunking.
You can dunk them in your coffee, or your whole white milk, or your chocolate milk, or your skim milk, or your lactose free milk, or your fresh milk from the cow. Yuck! Don’t dunk them in the fresh milk from the cow! It will be pretty awful. The cookies won’t be yummy anymore. Take my word for it, just stick with the stuff from the store.
